[OPIc] 오픽 주제 "학교, 수업, 교수님 등 경험 이야기하기"

이전 포스팅에서 오픽시험에서 질문을 하는 주제 중의 하나인 "학교"와 관련한 질문들에 대해서 한번 이야기를 해보았다. 이전 포스팅에서는 주로 "묘사하기"와 관련된 질문이 주를 이루었다고 한다면, 이번 포스팅에서는 "경험"을 이야기해보라는 것에 주목을 해보도록 한다. 물론 개인적인 경험을 이야기하는 것에도 가끔씩은 묘사가 필요하기도 하다고 할 수 있는데, 그런 의미에서는 이렇게 질문의 경계를 나누어서 이야기하는 것이 의미가 없을 수도 있겠지만... 그래도 이러한 경험을 묻는 질문에 대해서는 "언제, 누구와, 어떻게, 왜"와 같은 내용에 중점을 맞추어서 답변을 하는 것이 유리할 것이니, 묘사와는 조금 다르다고도 할 수 있다고 할까? 혹시 이전 포스팅을 보지 못한 분들이 있다면, 아래의 링크를 클릭하면 이전 글을 확인해볼 수 있다.

"이번에도 질문을 가지고 어떻게 답변을 하면 될지에 관하여 한번 이야기를 해보도록 한다."

이번에도 이전 포스팅과 마찬가지로 질문을 가지고 어떻게 답변을 만들어 가면 될지에 관해서 한번 이야기를 풀어나가도록 한다. 오픽에서 경험을 묻는 질문으로는 주로 "첫인상"이라든가, "가장 인상깊었던 무엇"과 같은 것을 주로 물어오는 편이다. 질문을 한번 보고, 이야기를 계속해나가도록 하자.

"DESCRIBE THE FIRST VISIT TO YOUR UNIVERSITY. WHEN WAS THE VISIT? WHO DID YOU GO WITH? WHAT TYPES OF THINGS DID YOU DO WHILE THERE? WHAT WERE YOUR FIRST INITIAL IMPRESSIONS OF THIS SCHOOL? DETAIL THIS VISIT FROM THE BEGINNING UNTIL THE END OF IT."

이번에 볼 수 있는 질문이 오픽에서 가장 흔하게 볼 수 있는 질문 중의 하나라고 할 수 있겠다. 학교를 처음 방문했을 떄는 언제인지, 누구랑 갔는지, 왜 갔는지에 관해서 이야기를 풀어보라는 내용이 되겠다.

I would like to tell you about the first visit to my university. In January 2011, I visited my university for the first time on my own in order to take an enterance examination. At that time, the school was crowded with lots of people who want to get accepted by the university. So naturally I was shocked with the multitudes. I went to the Liberal Arts school building because I was spposed to have an exam there. I was a little bit nervous since the day was very important day for me.

Anyway, the exam started, I did my best for that. After the examination, I decided to stay at school a little bit more since the exam was just got finished, everyone wanted to get out from the school. However the path was too narrow for all the people, so naturally, I needed to wait or to go with them very slowely. I prefered to see school, since I just got from the province, if I don't look around this school now, I thought that I might not have any more chance to look around here again. But, luckily, I was accpeted by the university, the first visit didn't become the my last visit.

To conclude, it was the story of mine that I had when I visited my university for the first time. Because of the examination I was a little bit nervous, but since that, I cannot forget the scene and feeling I got at that time. And also, I am very proud of myself being in the university I really wanted to be in.

여기까지, 소인배닷컴이 처음 학교에 방문하게 된 이유와 그 때 들었던 생각을 간단히 시험을 위해서 표현할 수 있을만큼만 정리를 해둔 내용이 되겠다. 이러한 경험과 관련된 내용을 물어보는 것이 오픽 시험의 주된 내용이라고 할 수 있을 것인데, 다음 문제를 한번 살펴보면서, 다른 형태의 질문으로는 어떤 질문들이 등장하는지 한번 살펴보도록 하자.

"DESCRIBE THE MOST MEMORABLE CLASS YOU HAD WHILE IN SCHOOL. WHICH CLASS WAS IT? DISCUSS WHO YOUR PROFESSOR WAS. WHY DID THIS CLASS CREATE SUCH AN IMPACT UPON YOU?"

이번에 한번 알아볼 질문은 바로 이러한 내용의 질문이다. 오픽에서 자주 나오는 질문 유형 중의 하나가 바로 이것이라고 할 수 있는데, "가장 기억에 남는 무엇"을 묻는 질문은 시험장에서 심심찮게 받아볼 수 있을 것이다. 이번에는 소인배닷컴이 학창시절에 들었던 전공 수업 중의 하나인 INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH SKILLS라는 수업에 관한 내용을 가지고 이야기를 풀어나가보려고 한다.

Taking about the memorable class I had while in school. The most memorable class I attended while in school was an English language course named "International English Skills". At that time, the professor who was in charge of the class was American got here from California and also he was said to be very rigid. And also the course was said that it is one of the hardest courses in the university.

I cannot forget the scene in the first class I have seen. I was waiting in the classroom, as soon as the professor came in, he said that "Why there are so many studients in this classroom? I cannot maintain this course with many students like this. Therefore, I am hoping that some of you will walk out through the door. The door is here." He said that as pointing out the door with his forefinger.

Anyway, I stayed there, therefore I was able to take the course even though the course was really hard to keep up with since at that time my English skill was not good enough for the course. However, I did do my best and with the great effort I was able to successfully pass the course. I received not great point with in the course though.

To sum up, the course I mentioned above was the most memorable class I took while in school. Because of the impact he made in the first class, I cannot forget the scene and the ambience of the classroom!

"THIS SEMESTER, WHAT ARE YOU MAJOIRING IN AND WHAT COURSES ARE YOU TAKING?"

이제부터는 슬슬 질문의 경계를 나누기가 애매하다고 할 수 있을 것인데, 오픽에서는 이러한 질문을 해오기도 하는 모습이다. 바로 이번학기에는 어떠한 전공을 하고 있고, 어떠한 수업을 듣고 있는지에 관한 내용에 관해서 말이다. 이번에도 개인의 경험이 들어갈 수 있는 부분인지라, 평소에 그냥 자신이 전공하고 있는 수업 내용에 맞추어서 이야기를 풀어나가면 된다. 소인배닷컴의 경우에는 이렇게 답변을 해보려고 한다.

I would like to tell you about what I am majoring in and what courses I am taking in this semester. Currently, I am a senior student in Englsih Language and English Literature department. I do not have dourble major or minor since I am a transferred student, since the school regulation says that transferred students cannot get double major or minor.

So, I am usually taking my majour courses, English language and English literature, such as Phonologies, Syntax, Middle age English Poetry, Renaissance Poetry, and International English skills.

I would like to talk about International English skills course a little bit more in detail. In this course, we acquire very courteous English expressions beyond the practical use, which are used in Business or Conference field. The professor was came from America, and was old. He always said that the polite form of English is really important to be an international person.

And in Middle age English poetry course, we study about poetry written in Middle age, it was so hard to understand since the form of English is far differnet with the modern English.

To sum up, Currently as a senior student in English language and English literature department, I am taking many courses about my major, and sometimes they make me tired and exhausted, but still I am enjoying taking the courses.
